Carmel Symphony Orchestra Women’s League to Host April 11 Fundraiser

The Carmel Symphony Orchestra Women’s League is hosting its annual fundraising luncheon on April 11 at the Ritz Charles in Carmel.

The event supports two, huge Carmel Symphony Orchestra events — the CSO Young Artists Competition and the Family Fun concert.

The Young Artists Competition brings young musicians from across the state competing to win a chance to perform in a concert with the Carmel Symphony Orchestra. Three winners are selected and get the opportunity to play with the orchestra in the Family Fun Concert held each year at the Palladium — certainly a gold-star moment for young musicians’ resumes.

Families also pack the Palladium for the Family Fun Concert each year. Children get to sit in the orchestra section near the musicians and are even allowed to play some of the instruments once the concert has ended.

“This year, at our luncheon, last year’s Young Artists winners will be playing,” said  Mary Eckard, Publicity Chairman for the CSO League Luncheon. “We are thrilled that they can play for this year’s luncheon. I’m excited about what the luncheon does for the community. We are blessed to have such a wonderful orchestra. The quality of musicians that we have is incredible.”

The CSO Women’s League Luncheon raises on average about $10,000 each year, with all proceeds supporting the Carmel Symphony Orchestra. Eckard says it’s an event that has the potential to raise even more.

The luncheon will also have a money tree, with gift cards totaling $850 to $1,000, and opportunity tickets, which are provided to bid on various laundry-sized prize baskets. Flowers are also being provided by the Engledow Group.

Anyone is welcome to attend the April 11 luncheon, and tickets are $45. Reserve tickets can be purchased by calling 317-844-9284.

“I’d love to see everyone in the community come out and support the Carmel Symphony Orchestra,” Eckard says. “We encourage anyone to attend the luncheon. It’s an important fundraiser and a great event. The whole thing is to promote art in the community. Without the luncheon, the Family Fun Concert would have to be sponsored in another way.”
