Carmel 2017 Dad of the Year Finalists

You’ve sent in your nominations, and now it’s time to decide the Dad of the Year! The following are finalists for 2017 Carmel Dad of the Year. Visit atcarmel.com to cast your vote for the winner. The deadline to vote is May 12, and you can vote once daily until then.

Brant Hahn
Nominated by Reegan Hahn, who says:

I think my dad should be the Dad of the Year because he is a very busy person with four kids to take care of. Even through all the busy moments, he still finds time to spend with family and friends. He is a great dad, husband, brother and much more. With four kids it is not always easy to do things, especially keep the house clean. But somehow he manages to do it all like coaching multiple sports, cleaning, being there when we get home from school, working and even building us a new kitchen table. He sets such a wonderful example towards all people and truly deserves this award.

David Smith
Nominated by Stacy, who says:

My Dad is one of the most enthusiastic people about life. He is the ultimate “renaissance man.” He taught us to love the arts, literature and architecture. He set an incredible example of always learning and reading. He is usually reading at least two to three books at one time on varied topics. When we were young, he sang and played the guitar, taught us songs, took us to plays and encouraged us in anything we set our minds to do. He created a magical world full of love and laughter and continues to do that to this day. All of these years, he has worked so hard and given so much, believed in us and guided us wisely and strongly. We can never repay him for the unbelievable ways he has molded and touched our lives.

Joe Hession
Nominated by Erin Hession, who says:

My dad is the most amazing dad to his three daughters. He’s generous with his time, always offers the best advice, makes us smile on bad days and he creates amazing memories during special celebrations, family vacations and holidays we spend together. When I was 5, he started “ESD – Erin’s Special Day” where he sets aside the entire day to spend together, doing whatever I’d like to do with him. More than 30 years later, we’re still doing ESDs! He sets the example of what it means to be an awesome dad.

Will Mitchell
Nominated by Emily, Liam and Kare Mitchell, who say:

In no way would I be able to summarize how amazing Will is in 100 words or less. Yet, “devoted” sums him up easily. Our parenting partnership is definitely not 50/50. Will takes on well more than I, and not because he has to, but because he wants to, and not only because he wants to provide for and support his children, but because he wants to do the same for me. He is the leader of our family: financially, supportively and in faith. Finally, and most importantly, God is the center of our family because of Will.
