In 2013 Indiana passed the “Direct Access” bill which allows Hoosiers to see a physical therapist without a doctor referral or prescription.  Enter Athletico Physical Therapy, a full service physical therapy center who has received many distinguished accolades over the last several years including “2013 Top Workplace in Chicago” and “2012 Physical Therapy Practice of the Year” by Advance PT Magazine.  In September, Fishers East became Athletico’s fourth Indiana location and the second in the greater Indianapolis area.

With a focus on excellent patient service and satisfaction, Athletico Physical Therapy continues to be committed to quality, consistent and convenient care. Athletico invested in a third party outcomes system called Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes (FOTO) in 2011. This system measures functional patient outcomes and patient satisfaction.  Patients complete a computerized assessment throughout their continuum of care. The amount of change in their functional status is compared to risk-adjusted national predictions from FOTO, and provides a measure of treatment effectiveness. Athletico utilizes this outcomes reporting to enhance the patient experience, decrease cost and improve long term results.

According to Fishers East Facility Manager Ara Knepp, PT, DPT, CSCS, “Athletico’s commitment to customer satisfaction is evident in that 98% of patients surveyed over the last three years stated that they would recommend Athletico to a friend and our outcomes are exceeding the national average. While most in the health care industry say that they are committed to quality care and services, few are willing to actually put their resources into measuring patients outcomes and satisfaction and responding to that data.  Athletico does and it is driving our success.”

Athletico Physical Therapy also provides same day appointments Monday through Saturday, extended hours and complimentary injury screens.  According to Knepp, “If we have clients who need to be seen before we open our doors or after hours, we will accommodate them.  We work for our patients.  Transportation services are also available for patients upon request.  And you will always work with the same physical therapist at Athletico from the first day to discharge.  Patients will receive ongoing patient education, treatment plans, and home exercise programs to continue upon discharge from therapy.

To further enhance the patient experience, Knepp indicated that she meets regularly with her patient’s physicians. Athletico Physical Therapy works to ensure open communication between the patient, therapist and physician. Athletico Physical Therapists look forward to attending patient appointments, increasing the dialogue and managing the recovery process.

Outpatient rehabilitation is a $29.6 billion dollar industry, and that number is expected to grow annually by 7% through 2018. The industry growth is boosted in part by an aging Baby Boomer population and the growing need for more outpatient care. When choosing a facility to provide you with the most comprehensive care, you can trust Athletico’s experience and expertise.

According to Knepp, “The mission of Athletico Physical Therapy is to provide exceptional, progressive, and cost-effective outpatient rehabilitation and fitness services through personalized care that emphasizes patient education and prevention of future injury.”  Knepp started with the company ten years ago in Chicago and then moved to Indiana to open Athletico Carmel. A year and a half later, she opened her second facility in Fishers. “I look forward to continuing our reputation for consistent, quality care at Athletico Fishers East.”

  1. It is actually chest physiotherapy or CPT. That is when you pound on a persons chest to help break up the mucus that is in their lungs. Very effective. You either use you hands, cups, or an electric percussor. I am a Respiratory Therapist.
