September 6 was a beautiful, clear night and romance was in the air, as the Historic Ambassador House and Heritage Gardens hosted its annual Harvest Wine Tasting. With more than 300 attendees, wonderful wines, various activities and numerous auction items to bid on, the night was set to be a success!
If you have ever been to the Ambassador House, you can envision the white lights dangling from the gazebo and the stars shining through on the beautiful night. This created the perfect backdrop for Patrick Feeney, who planned to ask the love of his life, Amanda Stephens, to spend the rest of her life by his side, hand in hand in marriage.
The horse-drawn carriage, which was a new addition at the event this year, came around to the front of the Ambassador House and picked the couple up just like it did other attendees of the event. Patrick and Amanda were talking casually when Patrick turned to her and said, “I have a question I want to ask you. I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?”
Amanda giggles when asked how she responded. “It took me awhile to believe it was happening!” After she said yes and the ring was on her finger, she let it sink in that she was going to be a bride.
Fortunately for the happy couple, one of the activities required an on-site photographer, who was able to capture the moment fresh out of the carriage! The Feeneys have started a family tradition of having the Ambassador House be a part of their lives. One of the first large weddings there was held by Patrick’s sister.
