We’re in love with the adorable new children’s resale boutique in Fortville – Kewpie’s Kloset! So many fun treasures inside, plus the shop’s owner, Andrea McCaughey, is a true delight. You can tell she puts 100% of herself in her quaint children’s resale shop nestled on Fortville’s Main Street. There are personal touches everywhere, and all the shop items are handpicked by Andrea herself.

We were intrigued to find out more behind the name of the shop and Andrea’s love of everything vintage. She’s always loved dolls. She’s collected them all her life and even shared her love of dolls with her two little ones. Kewpie dolls (characterized by a large head, big eyes, chubby cheeks and a curl or topknot on top of its head) have always been her most favorite. They’re from the 1900s and an absolute vintage piece in today’s culture.

Growing up Andrea always loved to sew and create. She also has a background in textiles and furniture design. She once sold custom furniture and was a buyer in a designer showroom. When she had her first little one she designed the nursery and even made custom bedding and outfits. As a stay-at-home-mom in the years thereafter, she learned how to be creative on a budget. With her background in design and her love of color and vintage, she found she could make tons of cute items for her kids and not break the bank. As a young mother she dreamed of one day having a shop to marry up her passions for vintage and custom children’s items.

Over the last 8 years, as her children grew older, she fell in love with idea of opening her dream shop right in her home town – Fortville. Seeing so many new businesses coming to town over the past few years made Andrea eager to get her own venture off the ground.  She watched and waited for the perfect Main Street Fortville location and was thrilled when she landed that perfect spot to call home. Andrea very much believes in shop local, shop small and local independent small businesses. She loves that money spent at her shop goes right back into the community she adores. “Fortville is growing by leaps and bounds. There is so much charm and character. I’m so very happy to be apart of it all. I love walking Main Street. The vibe is just so infectious, and I’m excited to see where Fortville will take all of us,” she said.
