Okay, I'll go first! I had a great experience with a car and truck mechanic service called My Car Doc (www.mycardoc.com). What is unique about their service is they come to YOUR home or business and perform the work on your car. No more dropping off vehicles, waiting for a call back, or waiting in a dirty waiting room with burnt coffee.

My Nissan was having air conditioner problems and my Durango sounded like a Harley Davidson (exhaust problem). These two mechanics show up in a clean extended van on schedule, looked over my car and truck, and gave me an estimate on the spot to fix them. The Nissan's air conditioning was fixed within 10 minutes, he said the system just needed to be bled and it was back to good. The Durango needed a new manifold gasket which was going to require about 3 hours of work given where it was. He showed me what they had to do in my garage while he had it all tore apart.

They came back the next day, fixed the truck, and charged just a little over $300 for everything. Unbelievable. I referred them to Bob Tollini and he used them for a brake job on his car, said it saved him at least $600.

I started checking into them a bit and found that you can actually see their schedule online and they have pricing for most procedures on their website. Best of all, they were very personable, answered the phone after hours, and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend My Car Doc to anyone out here, I know I now have a new mechanic on my cell phone's speed dial!

Hey Tom,

I'm glad you posted this. We had the multi-function switch (lever that operates the wipers and turn signals) go out. I called My Car Doc and he came out to the house and replaced it in about 15 minutes for half of what it would have cost at the dealership.

they just came out friday and did an oil change, I had some other "issues" they checked at no additional charge. Great guys, very honest
If anyone is searching for a Real Estate Agent one I can definatly says is the worse is Joel M Rust. He is not proffesional does not return phone calls and just does not care. He will do just the opposite of what you ask him to do. He called me a liar. When he got fired thru my relocation company he would not relinquish listing or take lock box off of door. He has people go thru your home just to say he is showing when the individuals looking to buy are not even qualified. I have sent a letter to the State of Indiana Realators board of ethics and I also plan on filing a complaint with the BBB. He is not to be trusted. He works for the ERA Real Estate Links in Carmel. Heed my advice after losing two months on the market with him.
My very poor, very unprofessional experience with a local business was with the UPS Store located at 79th and Fall Creek in the Kroger strip mall.

In February, I sent a large, oversized package to Chicago - from Indy - using this UPS Store. Since this has been six months ago, I cannot recall exact weights and time frames. It did take the manager, Jim, 6-8 weeks or longer to respond to my initial complaint - and only after I contacted him weekly for updates. I called UPS to complain and was told these UPS Stores are privately owned and there is nothing they could do about the problem. I was told he is independent and UPS does not tell him what to do or support his customers. He also told me not to take advantage of any programs UPS has on line as they cannot be trusted - I have found this to be totally false.

He charged me over $90.00 to send my package and said it would be there in 2 days. He also told me I could only send this package by UPS as no one else would handle it. He was correct that the Post Office does not handle packages of this size - but Fed Ex does - and would have charged me at least $20.00 less and would have provided much quicker delivery time. It was clear that even though I had paid premium price for size, my package was delayed because of its size -- and no one was going to do a thing about it.

My complaint: I paid premium rates and had been told I had no other choice but to use this UPS Store. I wanted a refund of at least the difference of what I could have shipped it for at Fed Ex had I not been told I had no choice. I also felt I should have been reimbursed for the extended delay in delivery for a short run from Indy to Chicago. Even his assistant manager agreed with me when I talked with him in Jim's absence on one of the many times I visited the store to follow-up. The assistant manager said there was no reason why delivery should have taken so long - especially given the rates I paid.

When Jim finally got around to responding to me - he told me I was just flat out of luck and no refund or further consideration would be given. He did not respond to my response to this letter.

My recommendation: Avoid this UPS Store location if you think you might need customer service assistance or if you want reliable information about what options are available for your shipment -- it just isn't there. The manager of this store talks about the employees of other shippers including the US Post Office in a derogatory manner - how dumb they are and how they make all kinds of mistakes -- and he makes it pretty clear he does not need people who have small business shipping needs.

Need a caterer for 5 or 500? Chef Suzanne is who to call. Diverse menu (and budget!!) choices and a heaping spoonful of charasmatic heart to go with it, Chef Suzanne made my wedding open house a hit! She went above and beyond the call of caterer duty to make sure everything was perfect down to the last bite. As someone who often feels that I have to do it myself to get it right, I had no problem completely entrusting Chef to take care of everything. I must admit I also work next door to this amazing women and get to sample many of her sights and smells on a daily basis. Not once have I been dissapointed in her fare! She is creative, charismatic and sure to make your event shine!
Enjoyed her cooking today! Delicious!
The food was delicious!!! I took a cheesecake to go in my car and wished I had taken two!!! WOW!!!!
I will definitely keep you in mind for my broker's opens.
Thank you. My daughter Cate deserves the credit for all of our baked goods. She is a full time pastry school student and somehow managages to juggle school, a 8 month old and all my orders!
Need a great place to grab a cup of coffee? Have a quick meeting? Why not Mama Bear's? The food and service are always great!!! Thanks Jaye!!! And free WIFI too!!!
Agree with this totally. If I am in the area, I am stopping by.
I give a ringing endorsement for Action Air in Fishers. A family-owned business, Kandie and John Dinger take great pride in their crews, service, and professionalism. Last year, our furnace reached the end of it's life-cycle (17 years old!) and Mike from Action Air came out to break the bad news. He recommended a system that was more efficient, priced less than the big brands you see in all the home remodeling magazines, and fit into our budget. He wasn't pushy, didn't try to upsell us, and spent at least an hour with us going over the process and timing of installation. When the install day came, two guys came out and spent about 5 hours replacing our furnace and heat pump. Towards the end of the install, John came out himself to double-check everything and to see how our experience was. Kandie followed up the next day with a call to make sure we were happy and to see if we had any questions. We signed up for their service program which is one less thing for me to worry about. They have been out on schedule since the install checking the system, making sure that everything is working like it should. If you are looking for a locally-owned family business that really cares about the customer, give Kandie a call at 585-8981.
