If you live or drive on Fall Creek Road, you have most likely noticed the recent construction on the sidewalks. The Fall Creek Trail project, introduced last summer, has been in construction since October 2015.

Currently, the construction has been slightly delayed due to a re-bid. But project manager Jason Taylor still believes that construction has made great progress, largely due to the good weather at the beginning of the winter season. Although it is delayed from the original August 1 deadline, Taylor says that construction should be completed by late October 2016. He also hopes that the majority of the project will be completed by July 4 for the annual Blast on the Bridge celebration.

“We have been trying to meet residents to walk them through what is going on,” said Taylor. “So far, the overall feedback is positive. People are excited. We understand the pain of construction and are trying to minimize it. We have received feedback from the residents concerning the tree clearing along the project.

“There is a misconception that the tree clearing is completely related to the Fall Creek Trail project rather than a combination of the trail project and Duke Energy’s maintenance of their overhead utility lines. With this project, the City gave careful thought to the placement of the trail as to minimize the tree clearing while still achieving a quality and beautiful end product in the trail.”
