Local businesses have been supporting the St.Vincent Geist Half Marathon since its inception in 2007. A nonprofit that has raised over $366,000 for Geist area schools relies heavily on corporate donors and sponsors each year.
This year, the board of directors has revised the sponsorship packages significantly to allow more corporate sponsors to be engaged for a longer period of time.
“We wanted to offer lower price point sponsorships to include more businesses,” said Mike Napariu, President of the Geist Half Marathon. “We also wanted to give our sponsors more visibility for a longer period of time, a change from the traditional packet pickup and race day signage.”
With an opt-in email list of over 20,000 past participants and a Facebook following of over 6,000 Likes, the Geist Half has already begun marketing the 2016 race and will turn things up after the first of the year.
New Geist Half Kick-Off on January 30
A mini-expo of sorts, the event will be a way for the Geist Half to showcase some of their new 2016 sponsors, offer a participant discount, host running club sign-ups and have subject matter speakers on running, fitness and apparel.
“We’re excited to host this kick-off event and continue to build on our partnership with the Geist Half,” said Gary Fammartino, Administrator of St.Vincent Fishers Hospital. “At a time when everyone is looking to make lifestyle changes for better health, I can’t think of a better place to be.”
Social Media Marketing Now Available
Runners in the Geist Reservoir area not only participate in the race each year, but they pay attention to the social media posts throughout the year. New for 2016, the Geist Half Marathon has created sponsorship packages that include online promotion for as many as six months prior to and leading up to the race.
