Heritage Christian School’s 7th grade girls Robotics Team, 6210A, won the highest honor, The Mayor Ballard Excellence Award, Sunday the 24th at the 4th annual Indianapolis VEX Robotics Championship. The team won additional awards for Robot Skills, Programming Skills and special recognition as a breakthrough team in a predominately male activity.
Collectively, the middle school teams, 6210A and 6210M, and the high school teams, 6210 and 6210X were tournament champions.
Held at the Indiana Convention Center, the championship is part of VEX Robotics’ Indy VRC chapter, a program partnered with the Office of Education Innovation.
Former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard helped create the nation’s first citywide robotics competition. Ballard said, “This is now part of the culture of Indianapolis.” Indianapolis still has the largest city robotics tournament in the country.
