Business Spotlight: Sweet M’s Boutique Too

Writer / Heather Chastain

Sweet M’s Boutique Too is now open in downtown Plainfield. The boutique is designed to cater specifically to sizes 14-24.

“Our biggest customer request has been to carry more of these sizes, and the response so far has been great,” says owner Stacy Maxwell. Stacy noted Sweet M’s will always carry sizes small to 3X in their flagship store and online.

The new boutique is tucked away on Vine Street, the former home of Sweet M’s debut shop. Once they outgrew the location, Maxwell moved to the strip mall on Dan Jones Road in front of Meijer March 25 – just a year after opening their doors.

“We continued to grow and began seeing repeat customers, and that’s when we really began to feel good about what we were doing,” says Stacy’s husband and co-owner Ryan Maxwell.

“The week of Black Friday, we realized we needed more space. We ran a special every day, and we were blown away by the response,” Stacy says.

When the Maxwells decided to open a boutique, they had their daughters in mind. The owners have three daughters (ages 20, 17 and 14) and two young sons.

“We really believe in dressing with modesty,” Ryan says. “You can dress nice and be modest and be proud.”

Stacy echoed his sentiment. “We wanted to provide fashionable, modest, reasonably priced clothing,” Stacy says.

Stacy says they also believe in giving back to the community. They carry two brands with philanthropic missions. Good Work(s) key necklaces and bracelets donate 25 percent of their net profits to charitable organizations. They also sell clutches by a brand called byTavi, made by women in Cambodia who are victims or vulnerable to human trafficking.

Sweet M’s also believes in having exceptional customer service, and the Maxwells say they truly believe in the SMB Team across their three locations.

If you’d like a more personal shopping experience, you can book an after-hours party for your friends. In addition to clothing, you can find accessories, shoes and darling little outfits for young girls in their Little M’s section. They carry sizes
5/6 to 13/14.

The stores are open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To learn more about Sweet M’s Boutiques visit sweetmsboutique.com.
