CGHS Names New Varsity Wrestling Coach

Center Grove High School (CGHS) has appointed Maurice Swain as its new head coach for varsity wrestling. He will also teach physical education and health at CGHS. Swain’s hiring was approved by the Center Grove Board of School Trustees at its April meeting.

Swain spent the last eight years as head varsity wrestling coach at North Montgomery High School in Crawfordsville where he also served as an assistant football coach. Swain was also an assistant varsity wrestling coach at Highland High School in Anderson.

“I am excited about this opportunity and I look forward to working with the faculty and student-athletes of Center Grove,” Swain says.

“Maurice Swain is an articulate, yet determined young man, who will be an asset to our high school teaching staff as well as our wrestling program,” says Jon Zwitt, CGHS Athletic Director. “His reputation around the state has risen exponentially during his eight years at North Montgomery High School. We are confident that Maurice’s talents and efforts will help raise the levels of excellence at Center Grove High School in many ways, but specifically with our student-athletes involved in wrestling.”

Swain is a graduate of Anderson University. He replaces Cale Hoover who resigned the position at the conclusion of this year’s season.
