You first read about the fund raising efforts of 9-year old Abigail Johnson in December. Today she presented a special check to the Riley Children’s Foundation. The check represents the proceeds from the sale of her album, Smile & Believe Volume 2: A Riley Christmas. The check presentation took place at Sugar Grove Elementary School (due to current visitation restrictions at Riley). Abigail became a Riley Kid in 2003 when the world-class medical staff at Riley Hospital for Children performed emergency, life-saving surgery when she was an infant.
Abigail made numerous appearances during the holiday season to sing and raise funds for Riley Hospital for Children by selling her Christmas CD including Purdue University and the Indianapolis Colts home game at Lucas Oil Stadium on November 25. The Sugar Grove Student Council was also instrumental in the sale of the CD. This is the second year for Abigail’s Smile & Believe fundraiser for Riley. Last year, Abigail donated over $10,000 to the hospital and this year total is just as impressive, $10,187.20! Abigail was inspired by a Maddy Justice, a Franklin Township teen who is fighting a battle with cancer. Abigail dedicated her CD to Maddy and will continue to fight with her.
