The health insurance landscape is rapidly changing, and every year Medicare recipients need to make a decision about supplemental plans. Sandra started working in the insurance industry in 1996 when she became a licensed life and health agent. She focused mostly on the health side at that time. Over time, the insurance industry started to change; so she made a move to the independent channel where there would be more products to offer her clients. Her husband, Jess, joined her; and in 2003, they formed Easy Street Insurance.
In 2004, Jess and Sandra heard about some exciting options for Medicare. Jess and Sandra started to learn more about the different Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Part D prescription plans. As Sandra puts it, “They dove into the senior market heavily; it just exploded.” Jess and Sandra have become experts in the Medicare marketplace. The demand was great back then and continues to be to this day. Sandra said, “We are certified with every company that does business here in Indiana. 80% of what we do is Medicare focused.”
The annual election period is October 15 to December 7 for Medicare. “Every participant can change their current plan with Easy Street,” said Jess. Jess and Sandra look at many options to find the right plan to match each client’s needs.
Jess and Sandra want to make sure their clients know that they have their best interest at heart. If a product changes or is discontinued, they will reach out to inform the client of the upcoming changes to the plan they hold. Sandra shared this thought: “We don’t want someone to not know the changes. This is the most important service we have. In case a plan is going away, we make sure the client is contacted and get them in for a review.” Their focus on service is the reason that 90% of their new clients come from referrals.
The Carrasquillos have lived in the Center Grove area for over 25 years. They have raised their family here and have been involved with a variety of organizations including Center Grove Community Schools, Mount Pleasant Christian Church, the Greenwood Senior Citizen Board, Central Indiana Council on Aging, and the annual Corporate Cup Challenge.
