Teens to Stuff Backpacks with Food

Blessings-LogoFor many students, returning to the classroom following summer break also means the return of steady meals. Volunteers from the Blessings in a Backpack program in Center Grove will be joined by school officials and special guests to pull together backpacks of food for students on September 26th at The Care Pantry located in the old Maple Grove Elementary building, 2911 S Morgantown Road, . Blessings in a Backpack is a nonprofit that works with volunteers across the country to collect and package backpacks full of food, distributing them on Fridays to children who qualify for the federally-funded National School Lunch Program.

This backpack-stuffing event is just one of many taking place throughout the country on September 26th as Blessings in a Backpack gears up for the 2013-2014 school year – including an event in Washington, D.C. where Blessings in a Backpack will be stuffing 1,000 backpacks to distribute to youth across the U.S.
