Earlier the White River branch of the Johnson County Public Library was scheduled to be closed April 29 through May 5 while a new heating and air conditioning system is installed. The library is at 1664 Library Boulevard, Greenwood.

While the first closure is still planned, apparently the repairs are significantly more extensive than first thought. Beginning Saturday, May 11, the White River Branch of Johnson County Public Library will be closed for 21 days while extensive construction is performed on the building’s heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning system. The branch is scheduled to re-open on Monday, June 3. During this time, the three other branches of the JCPL system, Franklin Branch in Franklin, Clark Pleasant Branch in New Whiteland, and Trafalgar Branch in Trafalgar will be open for their regular operating hours. In addition, Clark Pleasant Branch will be open on Sunday, May 12 and Sunday, May 19 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. as well as remain open until 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday during this time. Patrons who normally visit the White River Branch are encouraged to visit one of the other three branches to fulfill all of their library needs. Patrons can continue to return materials in the drop-box at all four locations during the closing. Patrons are also invited to call the White River Branch for information regarding programs and activities scheduled at the branch during the time of closing at 317-885-1330 and check the library’s website at www.jcplin.org for updates.
