25th Annual T-Shirt Design Contest for Fishers Freedom Festival

Earn Your School’s Art Department $500

Fishers, IN – – The Fishers Freedom Festival announces their 2013 T-Shirt design contest open to any Hamilton Southeastern district student grades Kindergarten through 8th grade.  The winner will either have their design featured pocket-sized on the front of the shirt.  They will also receive a free T-Shirt bearing their design, a trophy, be featured in the 2013 Festival Guide, and ride in the main parade.

New this year, dozens of finalist entries will be selected for display in a special art exhibit in Fishers Town Hall in March and April. Students and their parents will be invited to a grand opening event in Town Hall in early March. When creating your design, please keep in mind that the T-Shirts are white.  All entries must be legible and have “2013 Fishers Freedom Festival” and also our theme “A Quarter Century of Celebrating Freedom” very legible and spelled correctly in their design.  Other guidelines include: • Drawings can have up to four colors maximum. • Drawings must be on 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper.  • Only one entry per student. • No computer drawings allowed. • Previous T-Shirt contest winners are ineligible. • Entrants must reside within the Hamilton Southeastern School District. • On the back of the entry, make sure to include the student’s first and last name, birth date, age, home address, home telephone number, grade, school, and art teacher’s name (if applicable).

The school with the most entries will receive $500 for their school’s art department.  This year, it will be based off the percentage of enrolled students at the school who participate.  The school with the highest percentage will receive the $500 cash prize.  In the event that there is a tie, the prize money will be split equally. This will make the contest fair to all of the schools regardless of their enrollment.  Prize money is sponsored by the Fishers Arts Council and the Fishers Freedom Festival. Individual drawings or classroom packets should be submitted no later than Monday, February 25th to the Hamilton Southeastern Administration Office (13485 Cumberland Road in Fishers), delivered to the Fishers Freedom Festival office, 8591 E. 116th Street (directly behind Fritz in Fishers car dealership), or mailed to P.O. Box 930, Fishers, IN 46038. A selection committee will sort through all entries looking for creativeness and color selection.  All designs need to be easily reproduced into a T-Shirt.  Drawings will not be returned and become the property of the Fishers Freedom Festival for reproduction.

The final 2013 T-Shirt will be available for purchase during the Fishers Freedom Festival and also in June in the Fishers Freedom Festival Office and off the Festival’s web site (www.FishersFreedomFestival.org).  Proceeds benefit future Fishers Freedom Festivals.

Back in 1989, the founders of the Fishers Parade and Festival decided to have a community gathering to showcase community spirit, encourage volunteerism in the community and to celebrate the freedoms afforded to all Americans. With the help of volunteers, the event originated as a one-day community picnic, parade, and a few games for the children.  Due to the overwhelming participation by the public, this event grew to a two-day event.

With over 50,000 attendees from all over the U.S., there is something for everyone in your family to enjoy.  This free family event hosts around 130 art & craft sites, over 100 business booths, 30 food vendors, 40 free games booths, lots of live entertainment, 5K walk/run, two parades, fireworks, a variety of tents, and so much more.

The mission of the Fishers Freedom Festival is to encourage fellowship through civic partnerships and citizen involvement by creating a safe environment, developing needed community services, promoting family integrity and striving to improve the quality of life for every resident by investing in human potential.

The 25th Annual Fishers Freedom Festival is Saturday, June 29th & Sunday, June 30th, 2013 at Roy G. Holland Park.  Our theme is “A Quarter Century of Celebrating Freedom.”  Check us out on Twitter and Facebook.  For more information on volunteering or about the festival, please visit www.FishersFreedomFestival.org, email info@fishersfreedomfestival.org, visit 8591 East 116th Street in Fishers or call 317-595-3195.
