HSE High School Hires New Principal

The Hamilton Southeastern Board of School Trustees has approved hiring Dr. Jon Milleman as the principal of HSE High School. Dr. Milleman was previously assistant principal of curriculum and instruction at HSEHS for four years before serving as principal of Franklin Community High School this year.

“It is incredibly satisfying to have such a distinguished leader and educator return to our corporation to fulfill such a critical role. There is no doubt that under Dr. Jon Milleman’s leadership, Hamilton Southeastern High School will continue its tradition of excellence in education,” said Superintendent Concetta Raimondi.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to come back and work with this outstanding staff and administrative team,” Milleman said. “It’s good to be home.”

HSEHS English teacher Jacquie Carson said, “Jon is a leader with vision who will be so supportive of the staff of Hamilton Southeastern High School . I have enjoyed working with him and learning from him in the past, and I am thrilled to have that opportunity again.”

Among accomplishments in his one year as Franklin Community High School principal, Dr. Milleman implemented a plan for a new daily schedule beginning next fall, created a student advisory program, created a Principal’s Advisory Council, added rigor to English/language arts course offerings, completed a North Central Accreditation profile and oversaw a $103 million high school building project and moving teachers and staff to the new facility. In addition, he realigned staff responsibilities and created a Professional Learning Community environment with the faculty.

Previously, Milleman was assistant principal and director of student activities at Lakeland High School in LaGrange, Ind., for two years after being director of bands at Angola High School for seven years and band director at Central Noble in Albion, Ind., for four years. He has earned a Ph.D. in educational leadership and organization from Purdue University, an M.S. in educational leadership from Indiana University Fort Wayne, and a B.A. in music education from Western Michigan University. He and his wife Tamara have a 7-year-old son.

HSEHS Director of Bands and Visual and Performing Arts Department Chair Michael Niemiec said, “Dr. Jon Milleman has demonstrated through his own educational successes a complete understanding of the pursuit of excellence! His personal quest for high academic standards, his appreciation of the fine arts, as well as his support of all extra curricular activities proves his philosophy of educating the ‘whole student.’ As principal of Hamilton Southeastern High School , Dr. Milleman has the opportunity to instill this vision of excellence with a connected, caring community, dedicated colleagues and conscientious students.”
