After all, they were regulars at a Burn Boot Camp themselves when they met and fell in love with Burn’s philosophy and environment. They then decided to team up, make fitness their careers and open their own locations. Now franchise partners, Katibah is the co-head trainer at the Fishers Burn Boot Camp, and Paynter is the head trainer in Carmel.
Burn Boot Camp opened in Fishers in January 2018 with Carmel following in February 2019. The Fishers location already has a large community, and the Carmel facility is growing steadily — success the franchise partners say is a credit to the effect that Burn Boot Camp’s programs can have on those who take part.
“We are a community of women who support each other, lift each other up and inspire strength in and out of the gym,” Katibah says.
Headquartered in Charlotte, N.C. — where Katibah and Paynter met — the gym’s services revolve around 45-minute classes, known as camps, that aim to provide equal attention to everyone, regardless of fitness level.
Burn Boot Camp’s offerings primarily are for women, although it also has co-ed camps.
“We cater to everyone who comes in the doors, regardless of what fitness level they are at,” Paynter says.
Each’s day’s camps, led by a certified personal trainer, focus on a different theme or part of the body. But all workouts include high-energy exercise and music. And they all ensure that everyone is an active participant, even those who need to modify their workouts.
“There’s no lifting on the side,” Katibah says. “It’s personal training in a group setting. We’re not just leading from the front and barking out orders. We’re getting side by side with someone and giving everyone a few minutes with us to have their own victory, to give them the chance to do what they didn’t think they could do before.”
The result, the trainers say, often is a transformation that goes beyond anything a scale can measure. Burn Boot Camp has drawn women of all ages and sometimes from multiple generations in one family. Clients share their success stories on the gym’s “Transformation Wall” with victories ranging from weight loss to improved outlook on life.
“Little things mean so much,” Paynter says. “Like someone believing in them and supporting them when they may not believe in themselves.”
Burn Boot Camp offers childcare at no charge during visits, as well as one-on-one nutrition coaching. Both the Fishers and Carmel locations offer free camps on Saturdays.
Six, 12 and 18-month packages are available. Those visiting Burn Boot Camp for the first time can also take advantage of a free 14-day “test drive.”
