Fishers Voters – You need vote a change.

I do not live in Fishers, I live in Geist and I want to continue to live in Geist. Now I have nothing against all the fine people who live in Fishers, some members of my family do, lots of friends do, I have nothing against businesses in Fishers, a lot of them get my money all the time.

But I do have a massive problem with the Fisher Town Council and the government of Fishers. Sometimes it takes an outsider and friend to let you know about what is going on. The Fishers Town Council is one of massive growth at any cost, of taxation of its citizens and they just don’t care about the citizens. The massive growth is going to affect you more than many of you realize. It is ruining one of the top school systems in the state. HSE can’t keep up with the growth, that in the end effects the children, could there be a bigger crime, no. Overcrowding, resulting in trailers, no thank you, I don’t like my granddaughter being in a trailer instead of a classroom. Now lets look forward 10-15 years as the community grows up, all of a sudden all these school buildings will be empty and you will still be paying off the 20 year bonds that built them as they are vacant. Thank you Town Council.

Have you noticed the towns street are starting to look like New York City, at this rate of growth we can expect gridlock soon. I-69 at 14 lanes, you have got to be kidding, but they are not. Who is going to pay for all of that, why you are the taxpayers.

I know many of you are very happy the way things are, but have you looked under the rug, or do you have closed eyes. Did you know that Fishers is spending money faster than it is collecting money – end result they are going to have to raise taxes. Yes, get ready for more tax increases they are coming.

Lets look at the airport that Fishers wants to close, knew why? So they can build an industrial complex to make more tax dollars and by the way this will result in lots more trucks on I-69. Opps, cancel the 14 lanes go to 20 on I-69. Just what we need an industrial complex with trucks in and out of Fisher. And this will come after the 96th apartment complex of two 25 story tall buildings and lots more people and more cars.

Fishers, does not have a downtown, but if the council has its way, you will get one and lots more cars on 116th street at I-69. Where is all the money coming from for all these projects, your pocket. Are you sure you want to be spending all your money for all these projects. Oh a few of you will say this is great, a bigger Fishers, etc. I have to wonder if these few people are in construction and highway building. Oh I forgot, the Town Council will approve even more strip malls all over the place, you know in NYC every few blocks is like its own town with shops, etc. I guess Fishers is trying to be like NYC after all.

For a minute lets look at Geist, for two years now, the Town Council has been trying to force their will on all of us that live at Geist, they have repeatedly come up with false statements to try and make all of you think they have been correct in this take over. Lets look at a few such as all of us going to the Fishers Schools for free, well Fishers does not have any schools, they are Hamilton Schools and guess what all of us pay the same tax rate for schools as you do. Fire protection is provided by Fishers, well, yes, but did you know the people of Geist pay for the fire and EMS protection under a contract and at a higher price than Fishers citizens, So one after another all these statements have fallen, but the Council keeps coming with false and misleading statements. That you also know how much money this battle is going to cost you, between 1/2 and 1 million dollars of your money right out of your pocket. The latest trick has been to offer Geist 3.8 million dollars of their tax money back in projects. But they are going to collect double that amount. So where is all that extra tax money going, oh I know, the 39 million that Fishers is going to be in debt from all the expansions. Isn’t it time to reel in this massive government spending?

OK, what can you do? The Town Council is run by one group, all like minded, 99% of the time they vote the same, with no discussion, they don’t listen to citizens during public hearings, they have their minds made up in advance. They have their scripts made up on how to vote. Yet this November you have a chance to make a very small dent in this one party Town Council, one lone person is running against the Council, if he gets elected, you now have one person of an opposition party and it breaks up the script voting and agreements that are reached before the vote. It would open up your government. So what is the problem, Mr., Greg Purvis, is a Democrat in a community of die hard Republicans, but if you read about Mr. Purvis he is for responsible government, for the will of the people, and for slowing down the growth of Fishers. So even if it hurts to pull that lever for a Democrat, isn’t it time to look into this candidate and help fix what is broken in Fishers.
