Flirt Salon & Spa Owner Talks 17 Years of Success

With a chic, calming and sophisticated atmosphere and a team of knowledgeable stylists ready to keep you on the cusp of the latest trends, Flirt Salon & Spa is a go-to for all of your beauty needs.
Owner Leslie Sublett first opened Flirt Salon & Spa in 2001 around the same time that the city of Indianapolis opened the bridge between Allisonville Road and Keystone Avenue and right from the start, it proved to be a huge success. In 2006, Sublett decided to purchase land in Fishers and build a new facility, hoping that her clients would follow her to the new location at Crosspoint Commons Road.
“I was taking a big chance,” she says. “There weren’t a lot of businesses out here back then. Still, I just felt that the area was growing. I liked the fact that it was close to I-69 and I already had a lot of clients who were from the Fishers, Carmel and Geist areas so I knew this would be a central location.”
It was a hunch that turned out to be correct and for the next two years, Sublett’s salon continued to grow and thrive. Then the economy began to fell apart and she saw a number of salons and day spas close as patrons tightened their budgets. Still, Flirt Salon & Spa continued to grow. New stylists joined the team. Sublett’s success story continued.
“I admit, I was scared at the time that it wouldn’t continue on a growth pattern, but the business is still thriving. I’m very blessed,” she says. “I thank God every day for my success.”
Sublett attributes part of that success to the welcoming atmosphere and great vibe that exists throughout the salon. Unlike similar businesses that opt for individual booth space, which separates stylists and clients, Flirt Salon & Spa has an open concept where clients can see new styles on other customers and ideas can be exchanged in a friendly environment.
“They feel good when they walk in and they feel good when they walk out,” Sublett says.
Flirt Salon & Spa offers the full range of services for both men and women including hair, nails, eyelash extensions, derma blading, facials and waxing. They also offer microdermabrasion, makeup application, skin fillers and even a Botox for hair treatment. Sublett says she learned about this service from a former employee and described it as a smoothing treatment that begins at the follicle and makes the hair look like new.
“It doesn’t last forever of course, but it is a wonderful service and I believe we are the only salon in the area that offers it,” she says.
Sublett adds that while they are often seen as a “splurge,” her salon services are more of a need rather than a want.
“When you look your best, you feel your best and the world around you improves,” she says. “What could be a better feeling than that?”
