Hamilton East Library Collecting Cell Phones

Victims of domestic violence are often cut off from the community or trapped in situations where their home phone has been shut off. They may have no means of calling for help when an abuser is threatening their life. Ironically, it is estimated that over 60 million cell phones are lying idle in American homes and businesses.

The Staff Association of the Hamilton East Public Library is partnering with Prevail to collect unused cell phones to assist these victims of domestic violence. Donated cell phones will be refurbished and reprogrammed for emergency calls, or sold to help raise funding for agencies that fight domestic violence. (It is necessary that all cell phones be deactivated prior to donation.)

Donations will be accepted throughout the month of May at both the Fishers Library and the Noblesville Library.
