2nd Annual Artique Winter Art Fair is November 20th in Lawrence

artique300x250 On Saturday, November 20th, the PFL Arts Committee of the nonprofit Partnerships for Lawrence, Inc. is hosting its second annual Winter Art Fair in the Sterrett Center (8950 Otis Ave.) on historic Fort Benjamin Harrison in Lawrence. Artique! 2010 will feature thirty jury-selected artists who will be selling their artwork while the live performance stage will be occupied with music and dance all day. Hours are from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is free.

Singer, songwriter, actor and historian Tim Grimm headlines this year's Artique! Winter Art Fair at the Sterrett Center in Lawrence.

Singer/songwriter, actor, historian and documentary maker, Indiana’s own Tim Grimm will greet and speak to PFL members and artists at a catered breakfast at 9:30 am. Following that, Grimm will perform two sets at 10:30 and 11:30 am. The White Lightning Boys, prominent players in the Brown County arts and philanthropic community, will also perform. Local talent and aspiring musicians will complete the line-up for the day. (see complete schedule)

Artique! 2010 will also feature artist’s demonstrations of metal sculpting, wood turning and glass blowing throughout the day. Concessions by culinary expert Chef Suzanne, a wine tasting booth and marshmallow roasting station will be available for the visitors’ enjoyment. The first 100 visitors will receive a swag bag full of goodies from participating artists and local businesses. As is customary at PFL Arts events, attendees will enjoy a closing “toast to the arts” at the end of the day. Attendees will vote for their favorite artist for the People’s Choice Award which will be given to the participating artist with the most votes. The winner will be featured in 2011 in the popular Toast the Arts Series, free events that are sponsored by PFL every other month during the year to showcase local artists and musicians. An Artique! 2010 sneak peek and catered breakfast will be hosted at 9:30 am and is available to those who purchase 2011 PFL, Inc. tax deductible memberships prior to the event. The breakfast will be an opportunity for PFL Arts supporters to mingle with the participating artists and featured performers.

Partnerships for Lawrence, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit established in 2004 with the mission to support culture, education, and wellness efforts in the greater Lawrence community. PFL Arts is a subcommittee of the larger organization. Memberships allow the grassroots organization to contribute to and support local efforts to provide experiences free to all members of the local community. Long range plans include a community art center, and affordable housing and studio space for artists and musicians; based upon the solid belief that local art activity contributes immensely to the health and strength of the community at large as well as individuals in the community. PFL Inc. believes that cooperative partnerships strengthen all such efforts.
