The Fishers Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred this morning at approximately 10:00am. (Saturday, September 01, 2007) The crash occurred in the southbound lanes of Interstate 69 near the 6 mile marker. (Approximately one mile north of 116th Street)

Preliminary information: A maroon 2002 GMC Envoy was driving southbound on I-69 in the right lane. The Envoy changed lanes from the right lane to the left lane. For unknown reasons, the Envoy suddenly veered to the right, crossed the right lane of travel and left the roadway. The Envoy traveled down the grass embankment and crossed the ditch that parallels the roadway. The Envoy turned back to the left and flipped several times coming to rest in the southbound lanes of I-69.

The driver of the Envoy was pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger was treated at the scene by the Fishers Fire Department and transported by ambulance to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Both occupants (Husband & Wife) were wearing seatbelts when the crash occurred.

The Fishers Police Department Crash Team was called to the scene. Preliminary witness interviews indicate that the driver of the Envoy may have been driving aggressively. The investigation is ongoing.
