Congratulations to all of our Geist “Mom of the Year” finalists! Voting will end on April 10, good luck!

aprilcantrel2April Cantrell

(nominated by Paul Cantrell)

April has dedicated her life to her kids – like many moms out there. But since April was a teenager she knew she didn’t want to have her own kids but wanted to adopt kids who needed a family. Since that time she and her husband have adopted twp children through the foster care system, and are currently foster parenting an 8-month old sweet baby girl who may return to her birth parents or may need an adoptive home. Regardless of the outcome, April is treating the baby as if it is her own and is doing everything she can to make sure the baby has the best upbringing possible.

crawfordTami Crawford

(nominated by Justin Crawford)

Tami should be Mom of the Year since she raises three young girls, maintains a full-time job as a sales representative that requires her to travel out of town for weeks at a time; all the while she is able to cook meals for her family, plan multiple child friendly events, and she did all of this while completing her master’s degree at night. In addition, Tami set up a charity for her oldest daughter called Project Sunshine that provided art supplies for kids with cancer. For her ability to raise three young children, maintain a traveling job, keep her family of five happy, and achieving her master’s at night I believe that she is Mother of the Year.

IMG_3715Ries Thieme

(nominated by Anna Jennings)

While caring for four children ages 6 and under, Ries has been faced with a battle for her husband, Eric. He was diagnosed with cancer just shortly before the birth of their fourth child, Hudson. Since then, Ries has juggled every aspect of daily life with children and support of her husband battling cancer. The real superheroes are people like Ries and this is why I believe she should be Mom of the Year.

  1. Mary Hendricks says:

I cannot think of a more deserving mother to receive this honor than Ries Theime. She has shown such grace and strength as she helped her husband face his cancer and keep their children's daily lives as normal as possible. She is a wonderful role model for other mothers who face difficult challenges and come through with their family thriving.
