HSE Board announces new principals at Riverside, Harrison Parkway

Matt Kegley Andrea Burke At the Board of School Trustees meeting Tuesday, Hamilton Southeastern announced the names of two new building principals. Matt Kegley, currently assistant principal at HSE High School, will be the principal at Riverside School next year. Andrea Burke, a teacher at Brooks School Elementary but currently interim principal at Durbin Elementary, will be the new principal at Harrison Parkway Elementary.

“I’m really excited. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to lead what is already a great staff and student body,” said Kegley, who is in his second year at HSE. “Mike Beresford has established a great foundation in that building, and I look forward to adding to that.” Beresford is moving to the central office to be supervisor of student services.

Previously, Kegley was assistant principal at Huntington North High School, athletic and program director at Waldron Junior/Senior High and a physical education and social studies teacher at Waldron. He has a B.S. in physical education and M.S. in educational leadership from Indiana University.

Burke is also very excited about her new position. “It is an honor to step into the principal position at this exemplary school. As a Four Star school since its inaugural year, Harrison Parkway Elementary has an established culture of success,” she said. “. . . The community of parents, students and staff has made Harrison Parkway a wonderful place to learn, and I am eager to be a part of its future success.” Current HPE Principal Shawn Greiner will be principal of the new Thorpe Creek Elementary that opens in August.

Burke is in her fifth year at HSE. She has taught at Brooks School Elementary but also served in a number of administrative roles. She was assist principal at Brooks School, interim principal at Lantern Road Elementary and currently interim at Durbin Elementary. Prior to that, she taught elementary in the MSD of Lawrence Township. She has a B.S. in elementary education from the University of Illinois, special education coursework from IUPUI, a master’s in education from Anderson University and administrative licensure from Indiana University.
