The numbers are still coming in, but all signs point to a smashing success for St. Simon’s 15th Annual Royal Extravaganza, The Royal Ball.

This year’s event was the first time the dress code called for formal attire. The ladies dazzled in their sparkling gowns while the gentlemen looked sharp in their suits and ties. Event co-chair Jennifer Keller said, “It set the tone for the entire event and made guests feel like they were at a very special event.”

Live and silent auctions were at the forefront of this fundraiser, and among the hits was the Big Green Egg Backyard Experience package. The winner of this dream package scored not just the popular grill, but a mother load of items to make their next cookout a backyard bonanza. It included tons of accessories plus a $200 gift card to Archers Meats, a $200 gift card to Tasteful Times and a live performance by The Bumpus Hounds, which was donated by band member and St. Simon parishioner Matt Adolay.

“Needless to say, the item was a huge hit that did really well in the Live Auction,” said Keller. But the honors for the most bid on item went to the “Vice Principal for a Day” package.

The first ever Bling Ring Raffle was a great success, Keller said. The generous donation given by Distinctive Diamonds impressed everyone and they loved it. Keller said, “We plan to continue our relationship with them in the future.”

More than 400 packages were available for purchase in the Silent Auction. Keller said that over 90 percent of items were sold, making the event a huge success.

The crowd danced the night away to the tunes of popular local band, My Yellow Rickshaw.

“They did not disappoint!” said Keller. “They had the guests dancing and singing for over two hours. They are always a crowd favorite, and I was not disappointed in my selection of having them at the event.”

Keller and her committee would like to thank all the generous donors and the dozens of volunteers who gave up countless hours to make the event happen. They look forward to seeing everyone at the 2015 Extravaganza!
