L.A. Cafe Owner Jessica Averitt has seen her restaurant grow dramatically over the last several years thanks to a wide variety of delicious menu items and a loyal customer base.

L.A. Cafe, 4 South Main Street, Whitestown has become a favored destination for both lunch and dinner patrons since it opened.

“It’s been LA Cafe since we first opened in May of 2002, in a historic building in downtown Whitestown,” Averitt says. “After multiple owners (in the same location), I’ve owned LA Cafe since June 2011. A lot of people think it stands for Los Angeles, but it’s my father’s initials: Larry Averitt.”

Averitt noted that both Whitestown and Zionsville residents have kept L.A. Cafe booming.

“The response from our local communities has been great, and we see that when we participate in local events like the Whitestown Brewfest, Savor Lebanon and Polo at Sunset at Hickory Hall Polo Club,” Averitt says.

The outstanding menu has also been a large reason for L.A. Cafe’s success.

“The most popular dinner entree is our Parmesan Encrusted Pork Loin,” Averitt says. “It’s a unique take on Indiana’s favorite: the pork tenderloin. Our most popular sandwich is the LA Cafe Cheeseburger. The half-pound fresh burger can be custom built with toppings, from sauteed mushrooms and bacon to jalapeños.”

L.A. Cafe also has a delicious Hand-breaded or Grilled Chicken Sandwich with fries, a Patty Melt and a Reuben Sandwich, among many other lunch options. Numerous Appetizer selections include Stuffed Mushrooms and Crab Cakes.

“Our Shrimp Cocktail is our most popular appetizer,” Averitt adds. “It’s all about the sauce. On Tuesdays, we get a crowd for the ‘buy one, get one’ shrimp cocktail.”

Dinner entrée selections include a Center Cut Filet, a 12 ounce New York Strip and Grilled Salmon, among other menu choices.

“My favorite menu item is our Prime Rib that we feature on Fridays and Saturdays for dinner,” Averitt says. “We slow roast it overnight and then serve at the perfect temperature.”

L.A. Cafe also has great drinks to rev you up.

“Our specialty cocktails are all named after different Harley Davidson Motorcycles,” Averitt adds. “The popular ‘Knucklehead’ is a Rye Bourbon Manhattan and we have the ‘Twin Cam’ for a fruity rum drink.”

L.A. Cafe is also known for its excellent décor and service.

“At L.A. Cafe, we are a family, and we like to treat our customers like they are family too,” Averitt says.

The motorcycle theme at L.A. Cafe has also been a big draw.

“It stems from my father’s motorcycle shop, LA Cycles, which is also located in Whitestown,” Averitt says.

Averitt added that she and her family have long-time roots in Zionsville.

“My brother and his family live in Zionsville, and both of my parents grew up in Zionsville,” Averitt says. “It’s fun to get to know customers that also know my family, including my parents’ gym teacher from Zionsville High School.”

Averitt loves the support she receives from her fellow business owners.

“Both Zionsville and Whitestown communities support local businesses and community growth,” Averitt says. “I love how the residents of Zionsville and Whitestown enjoy supporting small businesses like us. A big part of our success is tied to the catering we do with local businesses and non-for-profits, along with weddings at Zyntango Farm and other reception venues throughout the area.”
