Take a Walk in Indy

I regularly inform my patients of the great benefits of taking a stroll. Many people are aware of the connection between walking and losing weight. The more calories you burn, the more weight will fall off. That thought pattern has changed over recent years, but you still lose calories with walking. But are there other benefits to walking? The answer is a very big YES!! (sorry for the all caps, but you get the emphasis)Studies have shown that walking for 20 minutes a day 5 times a week will…See More

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome relief in Indianapolis

Carpal tunnel sydrome is a condition that has been shown to cause a host of disabling symptoms. The normal cause of carpal tunnel syndrome is a pinched nerve in the wrist that causes decreased nerve function in the hand. Normally there is swelling in the wrist that causes the nerve pinch. There are a handful of different causes for the swelling, and this blog is more about the relief instead of the anatomy and pathophysiology. Some health care professionals including chiropractors and…See More

Back pain in Indianapolis. Medicine or chiropractor, which is better? Let the research speak.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20889389As a chiropractor I am known for low back pain. It is a given that most people put chiropractic as a treament for back pain. Back pain is just one of many conditions that can be effectively treated with chiropractic, but that is for another time. To add more evidence to the mix, lets take a look at a significant recent study. The gold standard of scientific research is a double-blinded…See More

Indianapolis fibromyalgia cause

Fibromyalgia as previously mentioned gets some grief as a diagnosis, because some physicians still don't recognize it as a condition. One of the reasons for this is that the condition is overdiagnosed by healthcare practitioners who don't understand it or just are trying to get the patient out of there office (it happens). Some research shows that there are behaviors and incidents that can increase risk of fibromyalgia. A study this year showed an increased risk to fibromyalgia, especially among…See More

Indianapolis fibromyalgia

This is the first of 3 or 4 blogs on fibromyalgia. To start off fibromyalgia is still a somewhat contraversial topic in the world of healthcare. Some experts believe the diagnosis is bogus and is considered an "I don't know" diagnosis, while others just think it is a disease of the hypochondriac patient. For the record as a practitioner I am convinced fibromyalgia is a recognized condition and realize how debilitating the condition can be. So what exactly is fibromyalgia and what can be done?…See More

Indianapolis whiplash- basic victim statistics

As a chiropractor I see a good amount of patients who have been involved in car accidents. Every one of these patients is different. I have had people involved in 10 mph car accidents who are in extreme pain for months, and I have examined people who were struck by a 50 mph vehicle with no symptoms or clinical findings! There is still a lot that we don't know about whiplash injuries, but I thought I could share some basic statistics. There is an estimated 3 million car accidents a year in…See More
