Brad Meltzer

I have read a few books by Brad and they are very good. I am currently reading "The First Counsel" and it is very good.  It is a White House drama. I think you will like it.

"For you DIY painters, "Painting Secrets" by Brian Santos (The Wall Wizard) really has some great information. He was at the home show down at the state fair a couple years ago, and I went down and saw his show.  He makes painting fun."

Taping Flat Ceilings - YES!!!

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 7:05am 0 Comments

I just completed a painting project where I taped (FrogTape) the ceiling in order to get a crisper line between the ceiling and walls. As I was thinking of steps I always perform as a professional painter, I realized the steps are very applicable to a do-it-yourselfer (DIY) and can save time and money.

1 - Always choose quality paint. There are a lot of paints out there, but do not use a cheap contractor's paint ($15 per gallon). You can't go wrong with Sherwin-Williams products, but there are other good quality paints like Behr, Porter, Glidden, Benjamin Moore, and Valspar to name a few.

Painting Contractor Selection

Most of my business comes from referrals, past business, and Google searches. Anytime you contact someone you have not met, there are some minimum things you should look for in your selection My one big piece of advice is do not let anyone in your home unless they have at least a Driver's License, proof of business document, and proof of insurance. Once you have these, you can obtain some of the other documents below.

The legitimate painting…

Painting Questions - Please send questions

Posted on January 29, 2011 at 10:00am 0 Comments

I paint professionally and one of my goals is to give back to our communities.  It is a little like "Pro bono" for lawyers.

Please send questions about your Do-It-Yourself painting projects, and I will do my best to give you an answer that will help you finish your project with the least frustration and cost.

I already have a Google Blog that I am attempting to pass on information that will be helpful for DIY. The information is absolutely free.
