I throw a charity neighborhood pool party for The Moorings every year... last year we had the Ronald McDonald House as our charity. This year I'd like to have the same theme "families helping families". I am looking for a family focused charity that can come to the event with a booth. Any ideas? Your feedback is appreciated. MPM

Michelle,

I am trying to find someone for Sat but no luck yet. The volunteer does not have to in the dunk tank right? I will keep trying to see if I find someone. I was at a conference all day today so couldn't get the VM messages.

OK... so the event is this weekend. So happy w the turn out so far!!!

Patty, can someone come Saturday at 5:30? I can set you up next to the Dunk Tank and donations to dunk people would go to your charity. I cannot promise much... you need a table, tent or whatever you like. I'll feed ya tho! Over 200 resident usually come... putting out a donation jar would be OK too. LMK

Hi Michelle,

Not sure if you already found a charity for this year but I would like to suggest Answers for Autism as a charity for you to support. Answers for Autism was founded 11 years ago by a group of parents of children on the autism spectrum living in the Indianapolis area. We are an all volunteer organization comprised mostly of parents of children with autism. We organize several fundraising events and funds from these events are distributed throughout the state of Indiana in the form of grants to non-profit organizations serving individuals with autism. A portion of the funds is also used to support national autism research. In the past ten years, we have donated over $500,000 in grants and autism research. Our main fundraising event is the annual Answers for Autism Walk which is held every September at CoxHall gardens in Carmel. If you would like to find out more about the  work of Answers for Autism and the Answers for Autism Walk,  please visit www.aaiwalk.org or feel free to contact me Patty Reed at 317-403-4308.

I support and volunteer for the Gennersaret Free Clinics. Founded in 1988, the all volunteer group of doctors, dentists, health care professionals and citizens provide health care servcies to our city's homeless and poor in shelters and at the medical care sites. Check out their website at www.gennesaret.org. You may also contact Rebbeca Sefiert at rseifert@gennesaret.org. As you might imagine the needs are souring with the economy and the resent surge in people who find themselves without health care for the first time in their lives. If you would like to speak with me directly reagarding the clinics you may reach me at 403-3727. Suzanne Rockwell
