I’ve always been a firm believer in the omens that weather provides. I wouldn’t want rain on my wedding day, for example, and every time the
first day of school was a sunny, gorgeous day, I assumed the rest of the
school year would be equally rosy. When I wake up in the morning and
the sky is blue, I feel an extra bit of optimism, and I know I’m not the
only one. For every Dodge dealer in Portage,
the gorgeous weather in May 2010 brought with it quite a bit of good
fortune, coming in the form of huge sales bumps and the best output for
the company in well over a year.
The improved numbers for Chrysler—33% higher than they were a year ago and production up over 100,000 units for the first time since March
2009—are suspected to be something of a result of the new Jeep Grand
Cherokee that came out that month, but Dodge Portage
has done well with their line of vehicles, too. The new Rams, for
instance, have been a big hit with their consumer base as well.
Even sales from April 2010 to May 2010 were up 10%, which is a sure sign that the Chrysler company is on the rebound. The industry sales
figures are estimated at 11.9 SAAR, making it the best month by far for
Chrysler in 2010.
Dodge specifically saw a 73% increase in sales compared to the same month a year ago, an absolutely monstrous jump that would be lauded in
any industry. Imagine if McDonald’s was selling 73% more cheeseburgers
than they were last year. We wouldn’t hear the end of how successful
they’d been. This sort of recognition is necessary for Dodge and
Chrysler as well, considering how well they’ve done lately.
Several Dodge models, like the Caliber, Avenger sedan, and Charger all saw sales increase by triple-digit percentages that month, proving
once again that a quality automaker can’t be taken down by any stinkin’
recession as long as they keep the quality of their product up and stay
committed to their mission statement. May was a sunny month for
Chrysler, and here’s hoping the weather stays this nice.
