The vigilant patrol and keen awareness of Fishers Police Officer Jim Hawkins led to an overnight traffic stop which resulted in the arrest of all three occupants each charged with breaking into several vehicles in the area.
At approximately 1:50 a.m. on 8/31/2010, Officer Hawkins was checking the security of the vehicles located in the parking lots of businesses and hotels located along the 9700 block of Crosspoint Blvd. From his position at the Staybridge Suites, he observed a dark colored vehicle driving suspiciously in the parking lot of the nearby Residence Inn.
When Officer Hawkins began driving toward the area of the suspicious vehicle, it quickly pulled out of the parking lot and then drove toward Hague Road at a high rate of speed. Officer Hawkins caught up to the vehicle and stopped it near the intersection of Hague Road and 96th Street.
Officer Hawkins identified the driver of the black Chevy Malibu as James R. Farmer (26) along with passengers Nicholus Joe Hamilton (28) and James Allen Blankenship (25).
During the traffic stop, assist Officers located vehicles in the parking lots of the Residence Inn and Springhill Suites that had been broken into leaving each with shattered windows. Ultimately, all three men were searched and interviewed and the investigation, including a search of the suspect vehicle, revealed numerous items that had been stolen from at least 7 different vehicles at the mentioned hotels including the Studio 6 and Holiday Inn Express located on North by Northeast Blvd on the east side of I-69.
All three men were transported to the Hamilton County Jail and charged with 7 counts each of Theft and Criminal Mischief.
We would like to take this opportunity to publicly commend Officer Hawkins for a job well done. All of our residents are fortunate to have Officer Hawkins and several others just like him watching out for us while we sleep at night.
