Waters Edge Has Finally Been Buried

After only six months, Robert Garcia has transformed the old Water's Edge "watering hole" into a respectable dining experience that rivals Eddy's or the Fireside Grill. Pool tables, video games, soiled carpet, and clumsy furniture have all been ripped out and replaced with new flooring throughout, updated furniture, and a new stage for weekend bands and entertainment.

Even the menu got a make-over with approximately 30% more items now being offered. New appetizers, salads, pasta entrees, and some decadent deserts round out the "new and improved" menu.

You'll notice a change as soon as you walk into the breezeway, there are two doors now: One for the bar and one for the dining area. The once-crowded bar has been expanded and new high-top tables and stools now line the new marble-top bar with updated lighting fixtures. The old pool table in the back has been turned into a stage which doubles as additional dining during the week. Black leather sofas with coffee tables flank the dining area, perfect for small groups or couples looking to take in a few drinks and appetizers. New flat screen televisions, overhead lights, framed race driver suits, and large booths round out the improvements.

My wife pointed out perhaps the biggest upgrade of all: the womens' restroom. Both restrooms have been totally revamped with decorative ceramic tile and new fixtures.

Garcia estimates that he's spent over $70,000 in the new build-out. He's a local resident that sees this as an investment back into the community. The Grill is still a smoking bar and restaurant, so if cigarette smoke bothers you, it might not be for you. However, my wife and I sat back by the stage away from the bar area and the smoke was very minimal.

A group of us stopped in there last night and we had a great meal. People were still smoking, but it was controlled and we all commented that it was much better. We are all non smokers. We sat in the back, service was good, and we loved what they did with the leather sofas in the front as you enter. I was impressed with the quality of the food and their pricepoints. The restrooms were very clean and as a chef I can say if a restaurant as a dirty bathroom I won't eat their food because their kitchen is probably worse. Happy to say that was NOT the case!

it's located in the Kroger strip mall at 79th and Fall Creek Road, where the old Water's Edge was.
