Lady Tigers’ Kara Gerka yet to be cleared to play

The 6-footer, an Indiana Junior All-Star last summer, averaged 16-plus points as a junior, and would have been the top returning scorer for the Lady Tigers.
Will she return anytime soon or even in time for the sectionals that will be played Feb. 2-3 and 5-6 at Westfield High School?
“She’s yet to be cleared,’’ said her coach, Michael Gaines. “She is supposed to see the doctor again in early January.’’
There’s no question that the Lady Tigers have missed her leadership and scoring and rebounding this season.
The team is very young, and its growing pains include a 4-12 record after Saturday’s close, 46-43 loss to visiting Center Grove.
Ali Gerka, Kara’s sophomore sister, averages 9.9 points. She’s the lone Lady Tiger in double figures through 16 games
