Basketball: Busy weekend; Can Lady Royals rebound?
Hamilton Southeastern will be looking to snap a 3-game losing streak, while Fishers seeks to extend its winning streak to 2 games. Both games are at home on Saturday.
The Lady Royals (9-7), who dropped a 51-42 decision to Warren Central on Thursday night, play host to Evansville Memorial in a 2:30 p.m. game, while the Lady Tigers (5-12) welcome North Central to the Tigers Den at 7:30.
The Royals boys, who visit No. 6 Lawrence Central tonight, are at home to Warren Central at 7:30 on Saturday.
The Fishers boys, who entertain No. 4 Pike tonight at 7:30, return to Hoosier Crossroads Conference action on Jan. 15 in the Tigers Den.
*—The Lady Royals, still trying to recover from losing star guard Megan Walton to an ACL knee injury, didn’t have enough firepower to stay with Warren Central.
HSE was well off the mark in field goal shooting. It made only 9-of-29 2-point goals and 6-of-23 3-pointers.
WC led at all stops: 15-13, 26-17 and 44-33 before seeing HSE hold a 9-7 scoring edge over the final 8 minutes.
Junior guard Bre Lloyd scored 20 points and was the lone player in double figures for HSE.
Freshmen Malea Jackson and Tayah Irvin had 8 and 5 points, respectively, and junior Haydn Braun also scored 5 points.
Hamilton had 5 rebounds and Kyndall Williams pulled down 4.
Jackson and Braun each had 2 steals and 2 assists, while Hamilton also collected a pair of assists.
