The City of Lawrence Fire Department is conducting its annual holiday drive for needy families and is asking for assistance from the community. Battalion Chief Dino Batalis, drive chairman, asks that new toys and monetary donations be made at the department’s administration offices at 4455 McCoy Street between 8:00 AM and 12:00 noon and 1:00 PM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Through the generous support of the community, the fire department was able to provide Christmas assistance of food to over 500 families last year. The department is counting on the citizens of Lawrence to open their hearts and their wallets again this year so that the holidays will be a little brighter for those in need. There are no administrative costs involved; all donations will go to the families. Volunteers from the Lawrence fire service community provide the manpower for all collections, purchases, and deliveries. Donations are tax deductible, as the fire department is a 501(c)(3) corporation.
