Lawrence Township Announces Child & Adult Care Food Program

The MSD of Lawrence Township is pleased to announce sponsorship of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and its policy for providing free and reduced-price meals at no separate charge. Free and reduced-price meals will be provided to participants meeting the USDA Income Eligibility Guidelines, effective July 1,2014 -June 30, 2015. The approved eligibility criteria are below. Meals are available to all enrolled participants without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability at Harrison Hill Elementary, Belzer Middle School, Fall Creek Valley Middle School, Lawrence Central High School and Lawrence North High School.

Children who are members of households that receive TANF or Food Stamp benefits, are Head Start Participants, or are Foster children are automatically eligible to receive free meal benefits. This program, administered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE), Division of School and Community Nutrition Programs gives financial assistance to child care centers so that nutritious meals can be integrated with nonresidential child care services for children. The goal of the program is to improve the diets of young people and increase the opportunity for children to eat a variety of nutritious foods.
