Local Principals Sport Blue Hair to Celebrate Food Drive Success

blue-haired principals Sunnyside and Oaklandon Elementary in Lawrence Township Schools paired up together for a food drive from Sept. 3 – Sept. 11.  Students donated more than 1000 non-perishable food items from each school to our Lawrence Township Caring Center. This center provides assistance to families who are financially struggling and need help with food, clothing and other household items.

The principals asked the students what they would like to see happen if their school brought in the most food items. They voted for the principal and assistant principal from the school with the most items to paint their hair blue and wear Colts attire for a day!

Oaklandon collected 5 more cans than Sunnyside but the principals decided the students did such a wonderful job of caring, so all four colored their hair blue on Friday, Oct. 10th.  Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Mankin from Sunnyside did morning announcements on the TV so they could celebrate with the students.  They even spent time in the cafe having fun while eating lunch.
