Does anyone remember an election last year where a guy named Dino Batalis lost to an unknown named Mike Hobbs? No one knew anything about this Hobbs guy, he had no experience, but he had one important letter behind his name: “D” for democrat. He won, Dino lost, and now Lawrence residents are embarrassed of their elected Township Trustee.
So, a few months ago, Hobbs gets arrested for a DUI and admits “I have a drinking problem.” Everyone who gets caught admits to having a problem. According to my contacts within the Lawrence police department, this wasn’t the first time he had been pulled over this year. It wasn’t the second time either. Try the third time he had been pulled over.
Now, we get another pie in the face with the latest arrest of Hobbs for paying his rent with a check intended as a charitable contribution from the Castleton Fire Department.
“Yeah, just make that check out to ‘Park Harrison’ and I’ll make sure it gets to the ‘Park Harrison Historical Society’ right away.”
Well, he takes the check made out to “Park Harrison”, adds “Apartments” on the end of it and pays his February rent at the Park Harrison Apartments with it.
This guy is a black eye for our community. How can we continue to let this young, inexperienced, alcoholic thief run our township’s fire and police departments (among other departments)?
Do us all a favor Mike, resign. Step down. Get your life sorted out, take a vacation, spend some time in Sedona, and grow up on somebody else’s dime.
We need Dino Batalis.
