Ghosts and Goblins and Pumpkins…Oh My!

There’s much to BOO, I mean do, in Carmel and surrounding areas for the month of October. If you’re looking for family-friendly tricks or treats throughout Hamilton County, there is plenty to see and do with your little ghosts and goblins.

Head over to Clay Terrace on Oct. 25 for Boo N’ Brew. Adults can enjoy beer and kids can enjoy their annual Malloween-their mall-wide, safe trick or treating during Boo N’ Brew. Children ages 10 and under will be able to trick-or-treat from store to store. Live entertainment, face painting, balloon artists and hayrides will be available.

The return of our headless friend and his trusty steed will be at Conner Prairie throughout October. For a complete list of spooky to not so spooky, family-friendly activities underway at Conner Prairie visit connerprairie.org.

Discover Stonycreek Farm in Noblesville and help them celebrate its 42nd Annual Pumpkin Harvest Festival, happening Sept. 27 through Oct. 31. It is open to the public from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The zip line is open on Saturdays and Sundays ONLY during the Pumpkin Harvest Festival. For an entire list of activities visit stonycreekfarm.net.

Cruise on up to Sheridan, Ind., and check out the month long calendar of events at Stuckey Farm. Its 2014 Harvest Festival Weekends begin Sept. 20 through Oct. 26. Stuckey Farm has added a new weekend to the celebration bringing their total to six weekends for your family to enjoy their many fall activities. The Sixth Annual Ghosts and Goblins 5K/2K & Wellness Fair, presented by the Carmel Education Foundation will be held Saturday, Oct. 30 at Carmel High School. Safe costumes are welcome and prizes will be awarded o the best youth, adult and ensemble costumes. The Wellness Fair will be open to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. For more information and registration visit carmelghostrun.com.

Go to Carmel City to Celebrate Oktoberfest and will feature PolkaBoy at Carmel City Center to celebrate Oktoberfest on Friday Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. Oktoberfest has become an annual celebratory fall event for Carmel residents. It is free to the public and open to all ages. PolkaBoy, a 14-piece band that plays a variety of music from polka and waltz to classic rock, will perform on the upper deck of Carmel City Center, along Veteran’s Way.

Travel a few minutes west and check out the Country Market’s 15th Annual Pumpkinfest, in Zionsville. Open every weekend in October plus two bonus weekends, Sept. 27 and 28 and Nov. 1 and 2. Adults are $10, Children 2-15 are $9 and under 2 are free. Activities with admission included a corn maze, hayrides, pumpkin decorating, face painting, live entertainment, corn hole, a 100ft slide and so much more. Take a brief drive out to the country to Traders Point Creamery for its Eighth Annual Oktoberfest on Saturday Oct. 11. Come celebrate in the German tradition with farm-inspired German food, a whole hog roast, and toe-tapping live music from PolkaBoy and Tad Robinson Band. Get in the spirit with the German Biergarten, Sun King Brewery and wine tasting. Families can enjoy hayrides, pony rides, a pumpkin patch, face painting, farm games, crafts, and are able to watch the evening cow milking. Visit the Artisan Farm Market for locally grown and handcrafted goods. The fun is all for a good cause –to raise money for the Traders Point Rural Historic District, a nonprofit organization that protects more than 2,600 acres of green space around Eagle Creek for the enjoyment of generations to come. The fundraiser has donated more than $120,000 to the Traders Point Rural Historic District, one of only three designated rural historic districts in Indiana. $10 per person, children under 10 are free.
