Friday May 25: The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office wants to alert homeowners of an increase in residential burglaries in a centralized area of White River Township. In the last six weeks, Sheriff’s Detectives have been investigating an increase in burglaries in an area bordered by County Line Road, Peterman Road, Olive Branch Road, and Morgantown Road.

How you can help

What should you do? Be vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately! Most burglars do not want to encounter a person inside their target home, so they usually knock on a door to see if anyone is home. If someone answers, the would-be burglar will make up a name and ask if that person lives there, or ask for directions somewhere. If you experience this type of activity, please call the Sheriff’s Office immediately by calling either 317-736-5155 or 911. Do not delay! We can respond and determine if the individual is simply lost or if perhaps they had other intentions.

The Sheriff’s Office will continue to step up patrols in this area but your assistance with reporting suspicious persons is definitely appreciated.

If you have information about who is committing these burglaries, please call the anonymous crime tip line at 317-736-2204 or e-mail crimetips@JohnsonCountySheriff.com.
