Draw Greenwood Community Art Project

Greenwood-Library-Logo.FeatThe Greenwood Public Library is encouraging the community to draw people, places, things, and events in Greenwood during the Draw Greenwood project.   Kits with drawing supplies will be available to check out at the Library, and the project will culminate with a gallery show of participants’ drawings later this summer.

Drawing kits will be available for all ages, and can be checked out May 1st through June 29th.  The Draw Greenwood show will be on view in the Library’s Exhibit Hall July 3rd through the 31st.

“The Library is hoping the Draw Greenwood project will inspire people to experience their community in a new way by drawing it. We are looking forward to giving participants a chance to show their work, and for everyone to see the different ways people decided to connect to their community through drawing,” said Sara O’Sha, Reference Librarian.

Those new to drawing or just looking to brush up on their sketching skills can register for one of the Library’s drawing classes.  Adults and teens can learn pencil drawing basics like shading and perspective at a Drawing Fundamentals class Tuesday, May 7th at 6:30 p.m. or Monday, May 20th at 1:00 p.m.  Drawing classes will be available for children in grades kindergarten through 5th on Saturdays May 11th, May 18th, and June 1st at 1:30 p.m.
