Before coming to CGHS, Dwayne was a counselor at Center Grove
Elementary School since 2006. He holds a Master of Education in Administra-tion from Butler, Master in Education in Counseling from Purdue, and a BA in Communication from Purdue. Dwayne & his wife, Emily, have 3 dogs. In his spare time, Dwayne plays the guitar and enjoys doing DIY projects.
Connie Poston, Guidance Counselor – Mc-Sc

Connie comes to us from Greenwood Middle School where she was a Student Services Advisor since 2008. She has a Master of Education in School Counsel-ing from IUPUI and a BA in Communication and Psychology from Purdue.
Connie & her husband, Matt, have two sons, Noah (3) & Jonah (3 mths). She’s a big Colts fan and spends her spare time playing Candyland.
Shawna Smith-Jefferson, Student Services Coordinator

Our new Student Services Coordinator (social worker) is located in the Guidance Department. Previously, Shawna was an adolescent counselor for the Marion County Health Department. She holds a Master of Social Work from IUPUI and a BS in Secondary Education from IU. Shawna & her husband, Corey, have two girls , Grace (6) and Isabella (3), and 2 dogs. She enjoys doing crafts with her daughters.
Jacob Short, Dean of Students

Jacob will be responsible for discipline & attendance for 9th & 10th graders. Jake joins us after being an 8th grade science teacher at CGMSC since 2006. He received his Master of Educational Administration and Supervision from Ball State and BS in Secondary Education from IU. Jake & his wife, Stacy, have a son, Brock and are expecting a daughter at the end of the month. Jake likes to play golf, fish and watch IU basketball/football.
