Event Will Highlight 9th District Congressional Candidate
A Rally for Women is set for Thursday on behalf of Shelli Yoder, the Democratic candidate for Congress in the 9th District (men most definitely invited too!).
The event is set for Thursday, November 1st, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the Carpenter’s Local Hall in Greenwood, 771 Greenwood Springs Drive.
The event is intended to focus attention on Shelli’s terrific campaign and also highlight the many issues that involve women, both nationally and locally. Shelli has met with thousands of voters in the 9thDistrict and hears from women every day about the important of these issues.
Former Greenwood Mayor Margaret McGovern will emcee, and featured speakers include former Indiana First Lady Judy O’Bannon, former Indiana Lt. Gov. Kathy Davis, and, of course, Shelli Yoder.
Local candidates from Johnson and surrounding counties will be recognized.
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Carrie Newcomer will also perform at the Rally. Newcomer has been described as “a soaring songstress” by Billboard and a “prairie mystic” by the Boston Globe. Author Barbara Kingsolver wrote, “She’s a poet, storyteller, snake-charmer, good neighbor, friend and lover, minister of the wide-eyed gospel of hope and grace.”

Light refreshments will be served and there will be a cash bar with beer and wine.
