Fishers High School Marching Tigers will host the 4th Annual Fishers Invitational September 12. Regional talent is drawn to Fishers for this event that kicks off the marching band competition season.

“As the host, FHS is not competing but is the last band to perform exhibition only,” shares Invitational Chair Jay Gabbard, whose daughter Alaina, a junior, is part of the percussion section.

The event keeps growing each year with top bands from Indiana represented. Last year, 13 bands from across the Midwest competed. This year, the talents of 15-18+ marching bands will be showcased.

Judges from Tennessee, Texas, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania make up the panel. Clinics and motivational speakers are incorporated into the event as well as a car raffle sponsored by Honda of Fishers.

The Tiger Marching Band members volunteer throughout the Invitational in addition to their rehearsals. “The Invitational is a wonderful experience for our band members,” says Junior President of the FHS Band Boosters Janie Sue Dubbs. “It gives the kids wonderful insight into the efforts involved in staging an event of this magnitude.”

In addition to the Invitational and a busy football half-time schedule, the FHS Marching Tiger Band is counting down to their performance in the 95th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia.
