Rowe, owner of Tijuana Flats, 7834 E. 96th Street, Fishers, says he is continuously overwhelmed with positive feedback from his neighbors.
“The Fishers Community has always welcomed us with open arms,” Rowe says. “It is really exciting when regulars bring a friend for the first time. I love how proud they are to show off ‘their’ restaurant.”
The popular restaurant has been a big hit for the past 13 years.
“Tijuana Flats opened on May 2, 2005,” Rowe says. “I bought my partners out on Feb. 1, 2007.”
Rowe has been busy ever since.
He noted that the tacos are by far the most popular item on the menu.
“We have the biggest tacos around,” Rowe says. “On Tuesdays, we sell two tacos, chips and a drink for only $5.99. We also have a ‘Fan Faves’ Board, which features all the best selling items the guests are eating up the most. The Street Tacos and the Steak and Cheesy Tacos are by far the best sellers.”
Other great menu options include enchiladas, chimichangas, quesadillas, tostadas and more.
Rowe has his own personal favorite.
“I love our Blackened Chicken Flautas,” Rowe says. “Coming in a close second are the Ground Beef Nachos with all the toppings.”
“I have always loved the restaurant business,” Rowe says.”I decided about two years into college that if I was going to school for Hotel and Restaurant Management, why not just jump in and get started?”
Rowe started his restaurant as a delivery driver in 1992 for Krusty’s Pizza in Phoenix City, Alabama.
“I learned the business from the bottom up,” Rowe says. “In that time span (since 1992), I have managed for Dominoes Pizza and later Noble Roman’s Pizza. Then I went to Papa John’s, before owning Tijuana Flats.”
He loves it when his restaurant is crowded.
“I soon realized that I loved the rush of people, and the challenge of serving all the guests as they choose to spend their hard-earned money in my restaurant,” Rowe says. “I wanted to treat them like they were a guest in my home. We never had excuses (in my home or restaurant). We just did the best we could.”
It’s a work ethic that has paid off handsomely for Rowe in a place he is thrilled to be in.
“What I love about Fishers is the people,” Rowe says. “Fishers is a growing city with a small-town feel. This is a place where your kids can grow up to be whatever they want. It’s a great place to raise a family, and grab a couple of tacos.”
Rowe’s family includes his wife, Shannon, daughter, McKenna Rose, and his work family.
Rowe added that Tijuana Flats is based out of Orlando, Florida and has been a highly successful franchise.
“We have the honor to be the only franchise location outside the state of Florida,” Rowe says. “We have grown the business so much over all these years that in 2019 we will be opening another Tijuana Flats in Hamilton County at an undetermined location. I believe that the rest of the county needs a taste of what the awesome people of Fishers have known for years.”
