Comcast Business is making some bold moves in Indiana

Comcast Business is investing in Indiana in new and meaningful ways. In late March, Comcast Business launched an advanced trial of their Xfinity Gigabit, which is capable of delivering 1 gigabit internet speeds to virtually all of their footprint across Indiana. Areas impacted in this initial layout include Fishers, Noblesville, McCordsville and Westfield.
This trial launch makes Indiana the 5th state in the nation where Comcast has launched 1 gig service.
“What is great is that the super-fast speeds use the existing wiring that most people already have in their homes,” says Jeff Marston, Vice President of Business Services for the Heartland Region, leading Comcast’s future for business growth in Indiana. “Because Xfinity Gigabit can go over their existing hybrid fiber-coax network, Comcast will deliver some of the fastest speeds available without having to tear up streets or rewire a customer’s home.”
As a result, Comcast now has the potential to reach more homes even faster and allows for broad deployment across communities. According to Comcast, in order to enjoy the service, customers simply install a new DOCSIS 3.1 compatible cable modem which is capable of delivering gigabit speeds.
Another commitment to our state is the move to have Marston’s job as VP located in Indianapolis instead of Comcast headquarters in Plymouth, Michigan.
“When the role of VP opened, it created an opportunity for more support in the Indy market, allowing for senior leadership in Indiana,” says Mike Wilson, Director of Public Relations for Comcast. “This is part of a deliberate effort to reinvest in Indiana.”
Comcast, with its 2,400 employees in Indiana, has a grassroots structure. The investment in their customer service includes the launching of different teams, such as their customer response team. This initiative is to be proactive by reaching out to those who they have not heard from or who had fallen through the system in the past.
Another way that Comcast is focused upon community is by the hours their employees spend helping the communities they serve.
“Comcast Cares Day” began as one day and rapidly expanded into several weeks. A few of the projects they have worked on include: Girls, Inc. of Monroe County, Foundation for Youth of Bartholomew County, Indianapolis Parks and Recreation and Clinton County Boys and Girls Club. Comcast Business supports veterans through their internal program, Comcast VetNet, as well.
“Our focus is to make it (customer service) our best product. We take a lot of these situations and work to remedy them,” Wilson says.
Having a higher level management position located in Indianapolis speaks to the concentrated effort Comcast is putting forth to step up a presence and commitment to community.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to help cultivate Hoosier business growth using the latest technology.” says Marston, who lives in Fishers with his family. “Comcast is driving technology for business in Indiana and will continue to assist economic development across the state.”
