Change can be a very good thing, whether it’s changing your look or, in the case of Radiate 60 Hair Collective, changing your location.
After Carly Rush’s previous salon, Make Fresh on Maple, had to relocate, she joined forces with fellow stylist Krystal Brown to create a unique new salon experience in The Edge building on the corner of Lantern Rd. and 116th St. in downtown Fishers.
Rush and Brown became friends while working to launch Antioch Indianapolis, a church that meets in the Murat Theater in downtown Indianapolis. Through their efforts in launching the church, they discovered they shared the same passions and knew that the partnership was the right fit.
According to Rush, “My husband (Chris) and I had been praying about it for a long time. Knowing that we were moving to a larger space, we needed to find the right partners. God brought us Krystal and her husband Josh at just the right time.”
Brown shares Carly’s sentiments, adding, “It truly was perfect timing. I was looking to make a change at that exact time as well. It all just fell into place for us to do this together.”
The relocation was a great catalyst for Rush and Brown, and their families to build something special. Both women’s husbands were immersed in the project from the beginning and continue to play active roles in making it a success.
The name of the salon, Radiate 60 Hair Collective, reflects their desire to create a space where they send clients out with more than just beautiful hair. During construction they wrote meaningful scriptures behind the walls, as they wanted to anchor the business in their faith and create a space where everyone that entered would feel that they belonged and they could have hope. The word “Radiate” is because they want the salon to be a place of light. The “60” is the number of one of their favorite verses from the Bible as well. The name reflects their beliefs and hope for their clients.
In addition to the overall atmosphere, each stylist on the team brings his or her specialty to the salon. As the name indicates, they are a “Hair Collective,” which means they have stylists that are experts in color, extensions, smoothing treatments, and other services. Both Rush and Brown have an immense amount of appreciation for each stylist in the salon and note that all the stylists from Make Fresh on Maple stuck stayed through the, sometimes rocky transition. They currently have 14 stylists, and two more are scheduled to join the team in January.
In addition to traditional styling services, Radiate 60 Hair Collective carries four unique product lines including R+Co. They also offer a private bridal/event suite that can be reserved by brides and their bridal parties so they can enjoy the special day in their own private space.
The Rush and Brown families hope Radiate 60 Hair Collective will serve as a place for clients to not only be beautifully styled, but to be accepted and cared for as unique and special individuals as well.
