There’s a cool new children’s clothing boutique in downtown Fishers, and you’ve got to check it out. Stella & Nash just opened their new storefront in August after being an online-only retailer for just a year.

Owner Jacquelyn Thompson was pleasantly surprised to be able to make the leap to a storefront so quickly, but then the whole journey into becoming a children’s clothing retailer was unexpected and wasn’t even originally on her radar. Before opening Stella & Nash (named for her two children) online in 2017, Thompson had been a school counselor for several years, guiding high school students through the college admissions process, intervening with at-risk high school youth and working with at-risk elementary school children.

But great things often come in unexpected packages, and they did.

“When I had my second child, I’d reached a crossroads, and I discovered I needed to be at home more,” Thompson says.

So, her husband, who also owns his own business, encouraged her to start her own business and website. Thompson wasted no time coming up with a plan.

“It was a no-brainer to choose children’s clothes,” she says. “I treasure the memories of shopping with my mom for clothes as a child, and I’ve always loved fashion.” Check out this baby clothes boutique for affordable and cute baby clothes.

Thompson’s love for fashion met her love for the Fishers downtown area, and she put plans for the storefront in downtown Fishers in motion.

“We used to stop in Fishers when traveling from Illinois to Fort Wayne when the only thing there was the McDonald’s and a gas station,” she says. “I’ve watched it grow into a hub with unique businesses and owners with an amazing entrepreneurial spirit. I’ve always wanted to be part of that.”

The online boutique was already achieving great success, but the real pull to make her dream a reality came after she got tremendous customer response following exhibiting at the Indy Mom Market.

“I realized I was missing out on that contact with customers,” Thompson says. “So, when the building on Maple Street became available, I was ready to buy it. I’m so proud to be a part of the growth of the Fishers business community, right in the middle of the hub.”

Now that Stella & Nash has celebrated the grand opening of their new store on Maple Street, shopping for the cool kids’ duds has become more convenient for local customers, but the online store is still available.

“We still have a huge online following of customers from every state, but now that we have the extra space, I can fulfill the orders from the store rather than keeping it all in a warehouse,” she says.

When you come into the store, you’ll see what the rage is all about. They carry girls and boys clothes sizes newborn to size six, and girls clothes in the tween sizes, 7-14, a line which Thompson is preparing to expand.

“We carry cute, trendy kids’ clothes at an affordable price. Nothing is over $32, even party dresses,” she says.

Thompson seems to have made most of her dreams come true with the store’s opening, but she hasn’t lost sight of two more of her goals. “I want to hear the customers remark about how cute the store is and rave about the friendly staff and great customer service,” she adds.
