Breakout the Fun
Writers / Rachel Quade and Chalene Braun
Be prepared to hurry! Be prepared to think! Be prepared to feel a little lost! Mostly, be prepared to have a lot of fun!!! You have just entered Breakout, Indy’s newest entertainment escape room.
Here’s how it works…a group of five to eight people have one hour to use multiple clues to breakout of a room. The Breakout host will welcome you when your journey begins. They will give you your mission and help get you started. At that point, it’s GO time. The clock is ticking, and you and your teammates will be scurrying around the room looking for clues. As soon as you unlock one clue, you will be faced with yet another challenge. Again, you’ve got to keep moving and work together because time is of the essence!
At Breakout, there are three different themes you can try. There is the Museum Heist, Casino Royale and The Kidnapping. Channeling our inner-Colonel Mustard, our group tried out the Museum Heist. Apparently, the museum owner stole a rare collection of artwork. Our job was to recover the masterpiece within one hour before the gallery opened! Don’t worry if you never took Art History 101. It’s not needed. All the info you need to break out of the room is contained within the room. We will warn you – this game is not easy! Only 30% of the participants get out of the Museum Heist within the hour.
Throughout the hour, our helpful hostess Kristen gave us hints over the speakers within the room. Be warned – you only get so many hints. After that, you have to earn them. You’ll have to visit Breakout to find out how you get the extra clues! With Kristen’s help, not to mention a lot of rushing around, yelling and straining our brains, we managed to recover the stolen artwork! We did it all within the allotted hour…with a whopping 35 seconds to spare!
Breakout Indianapolis is part of a nationwide chain. There are a total of 10 locations throughout the United States. Breakout opened here this past fall and has been quite busy! We tried to get in around the holidays, and it was booked solid. They are open seven days a week from morning until night. For prices and availability, visit their website at breakoutindianapolis.com.
The rooms can accommodate up to eight people. If you don’t have eight, don’t worry! You will be teamed up with other people. It really doesn’t matter whether you know the people or not – you’ll still have fun!
Breakout’s manager Isaac Nichols told us a new themed room will be opening soon. It’s called The Island. So if you are like some of Breakout’s customers and have already hit all three themed rooms, a new one is on the way!
Whether you go with friends, family, co-workers or by yourself, you are sure to love this fast paced hour of fun! Thank you so much to our friends for joining us. We hope you loved it as much as we did. So go pretend you’re in your very own episode of “CSI” and enjoy!!
